Hactivist collective Anonymous has once again targeted U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Via a video posted on YouTube a week ago, Anonymous has announced #OpTrump and declared a ‘total war’ against Trump. Starting from 1st April, Anonymous will start attacking websites associated with Donald Trump.
Apart from attacking Trump’s websites, Anonymous also plans to expose him by uncovering ’embarrassing information’ and halt his Presidential bid.
Anonymous has called Trump’s campaign ‘hateful’ and hist actions as ‘appalling’. “We need you to shut down his campaign and sabotage his brand,” the video statement said. “Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas.”
Dear Donald Trump, we have been watching you for a long time and what we see is deeply disturbing. You say what your audience wants to hear but in reality you don’t stand for anything except for your personal greed and power.
With #OpTrump, Anonymous has vowed to take down Donald Trump’s personal and associated websites on 1st April. A list of websites to be targeted has been posted separately. Anonoymous has also posted Trump’s personal information like his SSN number, phone number and details of his family, all of which remains unconfirmed.
“We need you to shut down his websites, to research and expose what he doesn’t want the public to know. We need to dismantle his campaign and sabotage his brand. We are encouraging every able person with a computer to participate in this operation. This is not a warning, this is a declaration of total war. Donald Trump – it is too late to expect us.”
It will be left to see how much damage could a DDoS attack bring to Trump and how Anonymous’s #OpTrump could harm his Presidential campaign.
There is still a half month till 1st April, anyway.
