To celebrate Safer Internet Day 2016, Google is giving away additional 2GB of free Google Drive space. Similarly, Google gave away 2GB free space to users who completed account security checkup last year around the same time,
Google is celebrating Safer Internet Day once again this year and you can get 2GB free Google Drive space. All you need to do is take a quick Security Checkup, which will help you review and manage your Google Account’s security settings for better protection and safety of your account.
The security checkup is painless process which takes just a few minutes to complete. During the process, you’ll be able to review your account recovery options, connected devices, services with permissions, and 2-step verification settings.
It is worth noting that Google Drive gives 15GB of free storage with every new account. Upon completing the account security checkup, it will permanently grant you additional 2GB space. If you participated in the security check last year as well, the 2GB space you earned will still remain, giving you a total of 4GB additional free storage.
Sounds good to me, what about you?
How to receive free 2GB Google Drive storage by reviewing Google Account Security?
Note: Account review steps may vary depending upon your account settings.
Step 1: Head on over to the Security checkup page and log in with your credentials.
Step 2: Review your recovery information like recovery email, phone and security question. You can edit any information if you need to. Once done, move ahead.
Step 3: Next step is to take a look at recent account activity. If any recent account activity looks suspicious to you, click Something looks wrong to follow further procedure. If you think account activity is as it should be, click Looks good.
Step 4: Next step is to review the permissions granted to all devices, apps and websites. If you spot a non-trusted or unrecognized app or service, hit remove to remove permission.
Step 5: If you have added recovery phone, 2-step verification step will be added. If so, review your 2-step verification settings and continue.
That’s it. Once you’ve successfully completed all steps, you will see the success message confirming the changes you’ve made and you’re done.
It might take a few days for additional 2GB space to appear on your account. You should receive confirmation from Google once done.
